“I used to work in Sierra Nevada guiding mountain bike tours. For fun on a day off, I was riding in Kings Canyon in November when the road was closed. At the bottom of the canyon I got an unrepairable flat and had to ride out about 20 miles and 3000 vertical feet on a front wheel without a tire. I made it to the post office and they gave me some soup.”
