Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa: Take A Vacation Close To Home

The Hyatt Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop is a short drive from Austin, but truly a world away. It’s a great place to escape with the family because a weekend there feels like a vacation, without the hassle and expense of flying or road-tripping cross country. It’s about an hours drive from the Lake Travis area (give or take, depending on traffic).

The long, winding road off Highway 71 sets the tone for the weekend as you pass rolling hills, beautiful landscaping and mature pecan trees. The scenery is breathtaking, and nothing makes you feel like you’ve escaped the city than having to stop for horses to cross the road before you arrive. Hello, city slickers!

Once there, you’ll find a large resort that is top notch in service without being stuffy. There is something for all ages and interests.

The highlight is the pool area — although “pool” doesn’t seem to do it justice. The water area features a lazy river, waterslide, beach area, splash pad and more. It’s a kids’ paradise — but if you don’t have kids no need to worry. There’s a calm, adult pool for anyone traveling sans kids. The drinks are tasty over there, too. And the parents fumbling with sippy cups and swim diapers will be incredibly jealous of your exclusive hideaway.

In addition to the pool area there are plenty of activities to keep the family busy. Golf and spa are top choices, but adventurous types can go horseback riding, hiking, try archery, zipline, tennis, biking and more.

For kids, Camp Hyatt allows children ages 3 and up to enjoy activities with trained counselors while their parents relax and enjoy the property. There are different scheduled activities daily, many geared toward kids such as face painting, cookie decorating or tye-dying. Another highlight is the opportunity to meet and sit on a longhorn — makes for a great photo opp with kids. Or kids at heart.

At night you can make s’mores, where you roast your own marshmallows over the large fire pit. There are hayrides, and you can also settle in to catch the family-friendly movie on the giant screen on the lawn.

Because there are so many activities, Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa is a perfect place for family reunions or gatherings that include people of different ages. It’s also a great place for corporate meetings or retreats.

So next time you’re looking for a getaway not far from the Lake Travis area the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines is a great choice.
