In about five months the new Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave will open for business. Located at the Hill Country Galleria property, this modern hotel will feature 195 rooms (including 12 suites), a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool and sun deck as well as a glass-enclosed lounge and rooftop bar. Wait, we’ll have a sleek new place to gather with our friends? Okay, you’ve got my attention.
What’s even more important for Lake Travis residents and businesses is this hotel has a vast amount of function space for meetings and social events. The 10,000 square-foot space can be divided into smaller rooms or larger rooms as needed. As a former party planner myself, I think having a contemporary ballroom event space in the Lake Travis area is something the community definitely needs. The Sonesta also provide on-staff event planners, wedding specialists and catering options.
The Sonesta Hotel is expected to open this summer and as we know, more hotels are on the way. Last month we reported that the Lakeway Medical Village is welcoming a La Quinta and a Marriott to their development. We’re pretty sure hotels will find their way into the new Oaks at Lakeway as well as The Backyard too. We could be looking at 600 new hotel rooms in the Lakeway area by 2016? And there are at least three more hotels under development in the Four Points area!
Currently, the Lake Travis area is home to hotels like the Holiday Inn Express (78 rooms), Hampton Inn and Suites (70 rooms), Lakeway Resort & Spa (176 rooms) and Mountain Star Lodge (40 rooms). We also have a few small Bed and Breakfasts like Casa del Sol and Robin’s Nest B&B.
As an LT resident for the past eight years, I think the new hotels are necessary for our thriving community. Our little slice of the Texas Hill Country isn’t so little anymore. We have to be proactive so we can accommodate the influx of travelers headed our way. And on a selfish note, we need more dining and event venue options nearby, as well as nice places for family and friends to stay when they visit.

I would really like to see a full service fitness center come to Lakeway like LA Fitness, YMCA, or LifeTime Fitness. We really need that here to keep Lakeway residents and families fit and healthy. Please let me know if you know about one coming soon.
Is there any specific date for the opening of Sonesta hotel?
I’m travelling to Austin during April 2015 and need to stay like 3 months and I’m looking for a hotel in the galleria.so if there is any other hotel let me know please.

Hey Cindy, the Sonesta Hotel is expected to open this summer — no specific date. The hotels in the area that are closest to the Hill Country Galleria will be along RR 620 — Mountain Star Lodge, Hampton Inn, Lakeway Resort & Spa and a Holiday Inn Express.
