The choices for places to eat in the Lake Travis area keep on expanding.
The latest addition to the eating out scene is Freebirds World Burrito located at the Trails at 620. If you’ve never been to a Freebirds, then I’ll encourage you to head a little north up Ranch Road 620 to check it out.
Two ex-hippies from Santa Barbara, California started Freebirds back in 1987. The first location in Texas opened up four years later in College Station.
Lake Travis locals have been waiting for a good burrito place to arrive in the area. And judging by the line wrapping through the maze and almost out the door at a visit during opening week, I think it’s a welcomed burrito establishment.
As the name implies, it’s all about the freedom of choice.
You can’t help to be a little overwhelmed as you check out all the burrito options.
Freebirds operates like a burrito assembly line, with your very own burrito roller piling on whatever topping you choose.
Pick from a selection of grass-fed beef, all-natural chicken and pork, and fresh veggies. Throw in some rice and beans, then top it off with over 25 other Freebies. The roller rolls it all up and you’re ready to devour!
This Freebirds location has plenty of indoor seating and outdoor patio seating. There’s a large grouping of oak trees to provide shade when it gets a little toasty outside.
For now, you’ll have to keep waiting for a burrito place in Lakeway or Bee Cave (I’m guessing one is on the way soon). Until then, go north — and check out the Freebirds Concordia – Austin location.
