New dining options are now open in the Lake Travis area with more on the way, way out west.
When you leave “the bubble” and travel on Southwest Parkway, you’ll notice all of the new commercial construction near William Cannon. Well, it’s about to get even better, because a new concept from the owner of Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille will be opening in summer 2019, Carve American Grille.
Remember when that stretch of Southwest Parkway was just a parkway?
Those days are over. Now Lantana Place will be adding Carve to the mix of tenants like Moviehouse & Eatery along with – according to Stratus Properties, Inc. – Westlake Dermatology, Realty Austin, Bella Spa, Cobalt Blue Salon, men’s grooming studio Scissors & Scotch, Enamel Dental and Lone Star Eye.
And don’t forget the new hotel expected to open in summer 2021, a Marriott AC. The “AC” family of Marriott hotels are “European inspired, which translates to small, but modern and functional. This hotel will be five floors high with 134 rooms and an impressive rooftop bar with sweeping views. Think Sonesta Bee Cave.
Steak Houses in Lake Travis
But don’t get jealous, because we’ve got plenty of new restaurants opening nearby too.
Saltgrass Steak House at Hill Country Galleria is now open, and we’ve heard rumblings that the food is delicious and the service is terrific.
Next up, we’ve got a new churrascaria in town called Espetos Brazilian Steakhouse, located in the space that was formerly Fore. Espetos is all about tasty meats roasted and served Brazilian style, a cultural tradition that originated in the Southern regions of Brazil. Think skewers and knives — everything sliced to perfection — with authentic sides and a phenomenal salad bar.
The inside scoop on Carve
Well, we don’t have much. You can catch a sneak peek of plans for this dining destination on their Facebook page. Our foodie friends at Eater Austin let us in on the meaty details we know thus far:
“Carve, which is the first and only location planned for the moment, will focus on fiery cooking methods like live-fire, smoking, and wood-grilling, with a wider menu than Perry’s, though specific details weren’t available.
Carve’s physical restaurant space, designed by architect firm Aria Group Architects, Inc., will include a dining room, three private dining rooms, a bar with outdoor seating, four patio fireplaces, and lots of wood accents. There will be a butcher shop which will allow people to buy and bring home cuts of meat.”
Pizza in Dripping Springs
Family-owned and nano-brewed Suds Monkey Brewing Co. opened a new restaurant in Dripping Springs called Hop’d Up Pizza located at 1032 Canyon Bend Drive, Suite B.
They specialize in pizza, as well as stromboli and wings. They just extended their hours, and they’ve got Sunday brunch specials.
Tropical Shaved Ice
Plus, we mentioned last week the chain Bahama Buck’s is opening in Bee Cave with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, December 14th.
According to Bahama Buck’s, this isn’t your ordinary shaved ice; it’s island-inspired Sno® — ribbons of soft, fluffy shaved ice bathed in any of their 91 proprietary flavors.
Cottages with coffee? YES.
And last but certainly not least, have you heard about The Wayback Cafe & Cottages? It’s open, and it’s fantastic! Stay tuned for more about this one-of-a-kind Texas Hill Country gem.
