If you live in the Lake Travis area, you know one of our favorite indulgences is fried dough confectionery.
Yep, we love our donuts!
On a typical weekend morning, the line at The Donut Hole is out-the-door as children and adults gaze in awe at the array of freshly baked donuts sitting happily behind the glass case.
3 Lake Travis area locations
The Donut Hole has three convenient spots in the Lake Travis area including one in Lakeway off Lohmans Crossing behind Wendy’s (2422 RR 620 S #124) and one at the “Y” at Oak Hill (6863 Hwy 290 W). The third location is in North Lakeway — with a drive-thru! — off 620 by Don Marios near the Hudson Bend Middle School (1700 RR 620 N #101).
You may remember this location was a Dunkin’ Donuts years ago. Well, today it’s a #livelocal spot for grabbing a freshly brewed cup of coffee from a local roaster and a yummy breakfast treat. Plus, there’s plenty of comfy seating and lots of room for wee donut connoisseurs to play.
10 years of making donuts … and more
The Donut Hole owners Rick Landry and Deborah Roberts have been delighting locals with deliciousness for almost 10 years.
In fact, the company will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year. They’ve donated thousands of donuts to local fundraisers and non-profit organizations, especially schools and school-related organizations.
When it comes to the magical equation that delivers mouth-watering goodness, we can’t give away the secret formula. But, we can tell you everything is made by hand from scratch daily in a full kitchen at each location with the highest quality ingredients — never ever frozen!
The Donut Hole is not strictly about donuts either. They serve up amazing homemade kolaches, breakfast sandwiches and biscuits too.
The most popular donuts are the original glazed and chocolate iced, followed by a mixture of almost 40 other tasty and one-of-a-kind flavors. If you haven’t tried their kolaches, you should grab one because they are very popular, equating to about 1/3 of sales.
Local art with your donuts
Patrons have also come to love the vibrant and playful murals in The Donut Hole painted by Austin-based artist Shawn Gillespie from New Orleans. His work can be found at all three The Donut Hole locations, as well as throughout Austin and Louisiana.
If you look closely, you can see Rick and Deborah managing their “zoo” of hungry customers in the above photo from the North Lakeway store.
A new donut addition
In honor of Valentine’s Day and all things love-y, keep an eye out for a new addition to The Donut Hole family — the “I Love You” donut.
