You’ve booked your flights, you snagged the awesome hotel deal, the bathing suits are packed, the bottles of sunscreen are ready to go. You are officially ready to relax and have some fun. The only problem is your 4-legged family member can’t go.
Have no fear, dog lovers! Lake Travis has some of the finest dog boarding facilities in town, perfect for your pampered pet. Today’s kennels are all about canine resort-style fun. Woof!
Located in Spicewood, this spacious ranch is all about one thing. Your dog. Although he can choose his form of exercise, with all of the fresh smells, puppy companions and blazing trails, chances are he won’t be snoozing. Dogs are assigned to play groups based on their temperament and they get 4-5 hours of play per day. That makes for some happy tired pooches at night.
So while you’re relaxing poolside sipping a cocktail, your pet is happily snuggled in his private area, always within the eye of A-Z Ranch Hands. They also offer day care, drop-off, pet sitting and more. Specials are posted online.
Sending your pooch to Highmark Kennel is like sending your child to Camp Longhorn! In addition to all of the normal play time activities, Highmark offers nature hikes, night walks and swimming in their full-size pool.
They have indoor runs and runs with outdoor access. All runs are climate controlled with A/C and heating. The spacious indoor runs with outdoor access are 25′ long x 4′ wide x 6′ tall. They also have slightly smaller runs that are 15′ long x 4′ wide x 6′ tall.
For special guests who need extra security, they have plenty of runs with secure tops as well as enclosed outdoor exercise pens. They offer elevated pet beds for extra comfort. (And, for Lake Travis cat lovers, Highmark Kennel has “Kitty City” with scratching posts and television viewing!)
Your dog’s stay at Just Four Paws may outshine yours as it is considered a “Club Med resort, strictly canine-style!” Dogs enjoy free-style exercise and playtime outside or, if your pet is uber pampered, he may choose to play in their indoor playroom.
He also gets one-on-one attention from staff members, so they play with him, brush him and make sure he has plenty of toys and good food. At night, Monsieur Puppykins get to retreat to his private 14-foot run, which is heated and peacefully cooled. They also offer grooming, daycare, training, in-home pet sitting and more.
You’ve probably driven by this building off Ranch Road 620 and thought, “Wow, that is one cool veterinary office!” Since 1985, Lakeway Veterinary Clinic has been keeping our furry friends healthy by offering medical services and grooming. Recently refurbished with roomier boarding areas and more state-of-the-art equipment, this vet also offers boarding.
It’s a great option if you have an older pet or a pet that needs medical attention like dental care, routine surgery, vaccinations or laboratory work, all of which can be conveniently provided during your pet’s stay. Plus, they get to feast on gourmet Science Diet kibble too.
At Spicewood K9 Club, your dog’s vacation starts with the words “go play!” And it’s easy too see how much fun they’re having because Spicewood K9 Club posts photos to Facebook every day. Your pup gets to explore four different fenced acres with plenty of room for playing chase. They can also hang out on the spacious covered porch or chill inside a climate-controlled doggie room.
They make sure everything is quiet at night, so your dog gets the rest he needs to run and play. And if he needs a nighttime potty break (and he isn’t crated), he has access to a 1500-sq ft area, so he can sniff out the perfect spot. Another cool thing to note is the Spicewood K9 Club Van will deliver to your door for daycare and boarding (you do need to call for pick up locations).
This award-winning (Best of the City winner in Austin Monthly for pet daycare/boarding) facility has numerous locations around town and luckily for us, one of them is right here in Lake Travis. Taurus offers play days, boarding and training for your four-legged friends. You can relax on your vacation knowing that at Taurus, dog boarding is “ruff!” And by ruff, they mean fun.
All of the staff are dog trainers, so they are experts in safety and heath and many are First Aid and CPR certified. Prior to boarding, Taurus has a doggy evaluation to make sure your pup will also have a relaxing stress-free vacay.
We know LT loves its pets, so if you have other dog boarding options to share, please let us know.
