Create Your Masterpiece: Painting With A Twist

Written by LoAna Lopez | August 19, 2013

Painting with a Twist Lakeway

If you think you are not capable of creating your own little masterpiece, leave it to an instructor at Painting With A Twist in Lakeway to make you think otherwise.

Maybe you want some alone time in the morning to let your creative juices flow, or maybe you and a group of friends want to change up the normal Girls Night Out routine.

Birthday parties, bachelorette parties, and even team building events are fun ways to add a little color to your life. All you need is a few hours and you’ll be channeling the artist within in no time.

Get Started Online

Located in the Oak Grove Plaza at 1501 RR 620 (map), Painting With A Twist is art class in a fun yet relaxed environment. Unlike the last art class you may have taken, however, you won’t get a grade when finished. Instead, you’ll get to take home your own hand-painted work of art and perhaps a little boost in confidence, too.

Browse through the paintings, look over dates and times available, and register online. Most classes are two to three hours in the evening, but there are “Coffee & Canvas” times available during the day, too.

You also can look into two-piece “couples” classes where you and a friend or spouse can work on two different but complementary paintings. Larger groups can inquire about multi-canvas pieces designed to ultimately hang together for a large display.

BYOB and a Fun Attitude

Prices at Painting With A Twist range from $35 to $45 per person, depending on the length of the class. This covers the cost of instruction, your canvas, and use of paints, brushes and other tools.

Plan to take your own refreshments when charting your painting adventure (corkscrews and cups are on hand if you choose to bring a bottle of wine), but this doesn’t mean there is a lot of extra time for socializing and snacking. While the instructor will help with painting guidance and tips, as well as answer questions, students are encouraged to just “go with the flow” rather than plan or think too much once class begins.

Also, class sizes can vary so be prepared to paint alongside only a few people or in a bigger class setting. There also are S.O.S. classes available at a different time for those wanting to finish or touch up their work at a later date.

Share Your Work

Painting With A Twist instructors will snap a group photo when class is done and share it on their Facebook page. This is a good way to see what your friends and neighbors created before you; it’s also a fun way to show off your acrylic skills.

Don’t be surprised to see lots of instant “likes” and positive comments because people generally are surprised by how great the final works of art look. And you might be, too, considering a complete novice can walk out with a nice painting after just a couple of hours!
