For most of us it’s time to pack up the ornaments and the festive decorations, so we thought we’d share a few helpful items with you to make your post-Christmas clean-up a little bit easier. There are many places throughout Lake Travis where you can drop off your tree for disposal/recycling.
If you decorated a roadside tree in the area to “Keep Austin Weird,” don’t forget to clean up that tree as well. We have to keep Austin beautiful too!
The City of Lakeway is offering tree disposal for live Christmas trees. Lakeway residents may chop them into 3-foot lengths and place them on the curb on their normal trash day. Trees must be completely free of decorations. You also have the option of dropping them off between the hours of 7:00am – 4:00pm at Lakeway Public Works Department, 3303 Serene Hills, in Lakeway.
Residents of Steiner Ranch can recycle their Christmas trees by dropping them off at the entrance of WCID Water Treatment driveway at Quinlan Park Road and Logan’s Way. Trees must be free of all decorations including nails, wires and tinsel. Please place your tree on the right side of the driveway. You can drop off your trees through January 4.
Pedernales Electric Cooperative is offering Christmas tree recycling until January 9. They will take your natural, undecorated tree and use the recycled materials for mulch that will be donated to area parks and playgrounds in their 8,100-square-mile service territory. Go to their website to find the office closest to you. The Lake Travis area office address is 4503 Ranch Road 620 North.
