It was back in early 2007 when some of the first commercial development in Steiner Ranch was completed. A small bakery and coffee shop that went by the name of Delicato was one of the first restaurants to occupy the many spaces that made up Vista Ridge at Steiner Ranch.
Many of the original occupants struggled to connect with Steiner Ranch residents. Who remembers Tutto Gusto?
It was tough timing as the economy slowed and business owners faced the challenges from competition as more development moved into the area. Selling really expensive coffee and gelato proved to be a business model that wouldn’t be successful enough to pay the rent. It wasn’t long until the doors of Delicato permanently closed.
The timing couldn’t have been better for two brothers with a vision of bringing their own style of comfort food to the Lake Travis area.
The Opening of Cho Sushi
Steiner Ranch residents wanted something close-by and good to eat. Cho Sushi opened its doors and the steady flow of sushi lovers quickly proved that not only was this place a welcome addition to the folks living within the Steiner Ranch community, but also a destination for people from all parts of Austin in search of good sushi.
With the success of the Steiner Ranch location, it was only a few years later that the Cho brothers decided to expand and open a second location in Lakeway.
Cho has a variety of the freshest sushi in Lake Travis. The menu is filled with a great selection a specialty sashimi, sushi, and a long list of creative rolls. There are also cooked entrees including stone-seared Kobe beef, pan-seared diver scallops, tempura vegetables and plenty more to choose from if you’re not into the raw thing. Cho Sushi is also offering a gluten free and vegetarian menu.
Cho is considered a family-friendly restaurant. Your little sushi lovers can have salmon (ordered without the dab of wasabi) or chose from several kid-friendly items like crispy chicken, beef teriyaki, or udon noodles.
Happy Hour
Be sure and check out their happy hour that runs Monday through Saturday from 4:30 to 7pm and Sunday from 4 to 9pm at both the Steiner Ranch and Lakeway locations.
Items on the happy hour list include all kinds of appetizers, sushi pieces and rolls. You can fill up on seaweed salad, spicy tuna tacos, asian wings, spicy tuna rolls, and more. Food items range from $3-$5. You can also enjoy plenty of beer, wine and sake specials.
Great service, fresh fish and sushi, and the creativity that goes into every dish is most likely the reason why there’s always a good crowd enjoying the food and drinks at Cho. Evenings can be really busy, so don’t be afraid to call and make a reservation — especially if you have a large party.
