When you think about going out to enjoy some art, where do you go?

It’s easy to hop in the car and head to downtown Austin to find your taste of live music, colorful paintings and even a theater performance or two. But what about the spectacular art happening in your own backyard?

Spicewood is our neighbor to the southwest that just seems to be teeming with artists of all kinds. From guitar pickin’ musicians to blown glass artists to writers, it’s a very vibrant world in the Hill Country, and the Spicewood Arts Society has been working since 2000 to bring these works to the Lake Travis community.

Flourish Counseling and Mental Wellness Center Opens in Lakeway

When you feel like you’re in a rut or just need someone to talk to, look to Flourish Counseling and Mental Health Center for a mental health professional you can lean on when times get tough.

Current statistics by the National Alliance on Mental Health estimates that 1 in 4 adults will experience mental illness in a given year.

1 in 5 adolescents will experience mental health issues each year, which is why it’s important to stay on the forefront of your family’s mental health and well-being.

What started as a solo practice in Bee Cave run by Dr. Candice Ackerman quickly grew into the six therapist counseling center it is today. With expansion dreams on the horizon, Dr. Ackerman started the search for the perfect spot for her budding practice.

Austin Salt Cave: Halotherapy and Salt Wellness Center Opens in Lakeway

When Lakeway local, Jack Cramer, starts to have allergy flare ups, he hits the salt cave.

He’s the owner and operator of the newest wellness center of its kind to open in the Lake Travis area, Austin Salt Cave, but the science behind salt caves goes back 200 years.

It was during the 19th century that Polish academics noticed that salt miners weren’t having the same negative health effects from being in the mines that other earth-dwelling professions seemed to have in large numbers.

As it turned out, not only were they healthier than miners of other minerals, but they were healthier than the general public, as well.

Science was starting to show the benefits of applying salt in a therapeutic way, and by the 1960s “Halotherapy” was a wellness technique that was catching on as a way to help alleviate the symptoms of asthma, skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, and even general allergies.
