And when it comes to ways to enjoy the lake, fellow water warriors and board shop owners Dan and Holly Maxwell know a thing or two about boarding.

The Art Garage: Explore Your Inner Artist

Written by Mandy Spivey | September 22, 2014

Kelly Emmert from The Art Garage

In my years living in and around the greater Austin area, I’ve had the chance of taking a few artsy classes like sewing, sculpting, leather working and digital print making. It’s always a great reason to get out of the house, get your hands a little dirty and learn a few new skills in the process.

That’s why I jumped at the chance to head over to The Art Garage in southwest Austin, where owner and resident art teacher Kelley Emmert is busy teaching classes from glass fusion to canvas painting, from mosaics to ceramic painting. Tucked away in a quaint little corner of a commercial park off 290, you can drop by to sign up for classes and art camps, or just walk-in and work on your own projects with the help of the experienced art staff on hand.
