Living the Lake Travis Lifestyle

The Lake Travis Lifestyle includes a variety of attitudes and values from a variety of people. Lifestyle choices in the area are many — from the neighborhood you live in and how you raise your children to choices about your health and the well-being of others in our community.

Many of us are influenced by our surroundings. Here in the Lake Travis area, we have development, traffic, and water management issues that affect our lifestyle.

Everything from articles that are a little more personal — and sometimes more humorous than others — to creating awareness about traffic and water conservation, this is where you'll tap into the heart of Lake Travis Lifestyle.

How Well Do You Know the Lake Travis Area?

Lake Travis Sunset

I love to talk with lifelong residents who have lived in the Lake Travis area for years. They’ve seen so much change, and whether they’re of “the more the merrier” or the “I like it better the old way!” frame of mind (or somewhere in between), there’s a lot we can learn from Austin and Lake Travis area natives.

Over the years my family has supported the cause in multiple ways. We’ve donated, run in races and attended fundraising events to raise money for research. I’ve known survivors and ached for family members who have lost loves ones to breast cancer. But never has Breast Cancer Awareness Month hit me as hard as it did this time around.

Did you know that socks are one of the most frequently requested items by shelters and often overlooked when people make donations?

Socktober is a campaign to get people to donate socks and other much needed goods to the homeless. It was started back in 2010 by a family as a fun way to get friends and loved ones involved in doing something important.

It was July of 2012 when the same family started a web show featuring Robby Novak, the ten year old YouTube sensation, also known as Kid President. He posts a video each Thursday encouraging his followers to “be more awesome”.
