Lake Travis Area Food and Drink

Perhaps Lake Travis folks stay active because there is so much yummy food to try! From typical fare (Tex-Mex) to the more unique (food trailer scene), there usually is something new or "coming soon" to try in this growing community. A healthy mindset means there are always various good-for-you options: organic, farm to table, and locally-grown, to name a few.

New grocery store options continue to offer the good stuff and local breweries are making their mark in everything from new establishments to tours and tap rooms. Specialty coffee shops and any number of local bakeries means your palette doesn't have to travel far for variety.

When you’re a boater looking for a chance to dock and eat, or maybe you just want a view of the lake while you enjoy some live music, you’ve come to the right place.

The Rusty Rudder is one of the newest eateries to make a splash on the shores of Lake Travis.

Opening their doors for lunch and dinner for hungry customers looking to try their original burgers, tacos, pasta and long list of appetizers like chicken wings, queso, and lobster rolls. There’s even a new brunch menu that’s going to be added in the coming weeks.

827 Ray’s Kitchen + Cellar Opens in Lake Travis

Walking into 827 Ray’s Kitchen + Cellar on the north side of Lakeway, almost at the entrance of Hudson Bend, it’s hard to recognize the building that was once known as the Hill Country Pasta House.

The major renovations are complete and more than three acres of property has been transformed into the ideal spot for you to enjoy the creations from this local chef — best known around the Lake Travis area for working behind the scenes and in the kitchen at the University of Texas Golf Club in Steiner Ranch.

With the completion of H-E-B at one end and High 5 on the other, construction of the spaces in between that will fill out the middle section of the Oaks at Lakeway has been rolling along as the peak of a Lake Travis summer is upon us.

13 new places for food and treats have grabbed up space and are ready (or getting ready) for you to discover at the Oaks at Lakeway. Several places opened up this summer. Others are dealing with construction delays. Several have “coming soon” signs in the window. So you can’t try out all 13 places just yet.

Nik’s on the Lake: Lake Travis Dining by Land or Lake

There’s a new dining hot spot in the Lake Travis area that will satisfy your need for delicious cuisine with a delightful view, Nik’s on the Lake.

This new 200-seat restaurant, which was formerly Cafe Blue, is accessible by boat or by land, so it’s the perfect place to refuel, relax and enjoy Lake Travis and the beauty of the Texas Hill Country.

Nik’s on the Lake is located next to the Sandy Creek Yacht Club on Lake Travis, just a few short miles away from Volente Beach Water Park at 8714 Lime Creek Road.

Getting there is a mini adventure … but it’s well worth the trip.
