Perhaps Lake Travis folks stay active because there is so much yummy food to try! From typical fare (Tex-Mex) to the more unique (food trailer scene), there usually is something new or "coming soon" to try in this growing community. A healthy mindset means there are always various good-for-you options: organic, farm to table, and locally-grown, to name a few.

New grocery store options continue to offer the good stuff and local breweries are making their mark in everything from new establishments to tours and tap rooms. Specialty coffee shops and any number of local bakeries means your palette doesn't have to travel far for variety.

Beyond Beer: The Ginger Man Opens in Lake Travis

You’ve been waiting since you heard the news last summer and it’s finally here.

Yes, LT-ers, The Ginger Man is officially open for business at the Hill Country Galleria. The inviting open-air space will make you feel like you’ve stepped out of the hustle and bustle of Lakeway and into your favorite European pub.

The Ginger Man is an Austin original with a well-earned spot in the chronicles of beer history.

The Ginger Man first opened in Houston in 1985, and unlike every other American bar, they offered more than 70 beers on tap. Most places just served domestic brew with a few imports. In contrast, The Ginger Man served beer from around the world. And lots of it.

Yeah, that craft beer concept kinda exploded, huh? Call them the pioneers.

Creative Cuisine in Lake Travis: Plate by Dzintra Reopens

For nearly seven years, Plate by Dzintra was revered as everyone’s favorite “little, romantic dining spot” with an intimate setting and creative cuisine. Today, Plate may not be a “little” spot anymore, but it’s still just as exceptional as ever.

Earlier this month, Plate relocated into an expanded space in the Shops at the Galleria — it was formerly occupied by Gumbo’s. After saying adieu to their quaint spot just blocks away, Plate by Dzintra is happily settling into its new home.

Why This Slice of Texas Hill Country is America’s Top Wine Region

This past weekend, hundreds of folks flocked to Spicewood Vineyards for its 10th Annual ‘Pair It with the Claret’ chili contest. Chili connoisseurs were tasked with the delicious job of figuring out which homemade chili best paired with Claret.

For Lake Travis residents, this event is practically right in your backyard. That’s because you have access to one of the top wine regions in the country. In fact, the Texas Hill Country is the largest AVA (American Viticulture Area) in Texas, which means it’s a designated wine grape-growing region distinguished by its geographic features.

To celebrate our local wineries and vineyards, we’re taking a look at fun facts about the Texas wine region nestled in the Texas Hill Country, which happens to be a hop, skip and jump away. So, cheers!
