Thursdays at The Buzz in Bee Cave

Live Music Thursdays at Buzz Bar Whole Foods Bee Cave

It’s Thursday evening and you’re nearing the dinner hour.

It’s not quite the weekend yet, but the work week is almost over.

The Thursday night limbo makes you hungry — not just for food — but for good company and entertainment.

The Buzz in Whole Foods Market Bee Cave has just what you need when this mood hits. Thursdays also happen to be live music nights up at the quaint grocery pub, just up the stairs when you walk in on the coffee shop side entrance of Whole Foods.

While you might already be a fan of their ever-rotating taps of local Hill Country beers and wines, you might not know about the tasty treats they also have on the menu, including hot wings, veggie burgers and fish and chips.

Top off your evening with a local brew or two and now you’re getting into the Thursday spirit.

Valentine's Day Dining Flickr CC Ruby Ran

It’s that time of year yet again when love birds come out of the woodwork and coworkers make googly eyes over too-low cubical walls.

When kids create heartfelt, glue-sticked masterpieces and makeshift flower kiosks spring up alongside 620 like bluebonnets.

Yes friends, Valentine’s Day will soon fill the Lake Travis area and with so many fantastic dining options to consider, it’s time to get cracking on those reservations.

Angel’s Icehouse in Spicewood: The Lake Travis Area’s Best Roadside Fare

Written by Mandy Spivey | February 1, 2016

Angel's Icehouse

You never know when you’re going to be out on the road and get “the hanger.”

You know the feeling. The result of waiting so long to eat and you’re so hungry that you’ve moved past mere frustration and now you’re actually angry.

When that sensation hits, it’s best to get food pronto, which is how I first came across Angel’s Icehouse in Spicewood.

I was on my way back from Krause Springs when I saw the first sign of the famous Lake Travis area restaurant. Bikers had begun a formation in front as I found my way inside the property, hungry and ready for whatever foods they had to offer.

But what I found inside was not some mere roadside attraction. Instead I was greeted with some of the friendliest Texas service in the Hill Country. And plenty of delicious food options for a car full of hungry Lake Travisites.

Burritos for the Lake Travis Area at the Austin Burrito Company

Written by Phillip Paquette | January 28, 2016

Austin Burrito Company storefront

Editor’s note: As I was getting ready to publish today’s scheduled post about the Austin Burrito Company, I came across this message from the Walker Family that was posted on the company Facebook Page yesterday. Please do what you can to help support this local business and Lake Travis family. Here’s the message from the Walker Family:

Honesty has since the beginning been a key tenet of the Austin Burrito Company. This is why we’re reaching out to you all this early this morning.

Simply put, we need your help.

Starting a new and independent restaurant is incredibly hard. It’s required years of hard work and sleepless nights (such as this one) to open our doors.

It’s also very expensive. Our family’s entire savings has gone into this effort. Everything.

And now, just weeks after opening, we’ve encountered a serious challenge.

Kuxtal Coffee and Tea in Lago Vista: Direct from the Farmer to the Consumer

Written by Sandra Spicher | January 26, 2016

Blonde-Roast

The gas-fired barrel roaster rumbles along for a few minutes, then a crackle sounds. It’s like a dry twig snapping. Scott Bogart checks a temperature gauge.

He nods, twists a handle, and pulls out a hot sample.

The coffee beans in the sample tube are turning from the delicate green of new lettuce to a shade like straw.
