Lake Travis Area Weekend Events: January 9 –11

Hey Lake Travis, it’s the weekend!

If you’re ready to brave the cold, you can check out the Cyclo-cross National Championships at Zilker Park this weekend. The event promoters have talked about how competitors may not experience the cold and snow of Cyclo-cross Nationals past — but it looks like they will this weekend!

If you need to get out of the house (but not outside in the cold) check out the Austin Boat and Travel Show at the Austin Convention Center this weekend — it will be toasty warm.

And if you just want to stay home and watch movies next to a warm fire, we understand — we don’t live here to deal with ice and snow and cold.

Tours & Live Music Heading to Austin in 2015

Christmas trees are being recycled and New Year’s Eve toasts have been made. As the holiday season comes to a close, it’s time to look ahead and start filling up the 2015 calendar. And since we’re in the “Live Music Capital of the World,” why not start with with what we’re famous for — live music!

From Cedar Park Center to Gruene Hall to Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater, Austin is hosting amazing musicians from all music genres. You can catch Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s ‘Cheek to Cheek’ tour at ACL Live in April or don’t stop believin’ with Journey and the Steve Miller Band in March or see Iggy Azalea get fancy in May. No matter which show you want to see, you’d better buy your tickets soon.

Rock on, Austin.

Lake Travis Area Weekend Events: January 2 – 4

Just one more weekend left before this holiday season comes to a close. All the gifts have been opened, feasts have been consumed and New Year’s resolutions have been made.

It’s going to be a pretty quiet weekend around the town, but there are still some lights shining and your last chance to ice skate if you’re still feeling a little festive and need a break from taking down all the Christmas decorations.

New Year's Eve Celebrations in Lake Travis

It’s time to bid farewell to 2014 and usher in 2015! Yep, New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and there’s still time to make reservations at your favorite Lake Travis spot. There are plenty of NYE celebrations and parties to choose from with something for everyone — live music, delicious food and wine pairings and a glass (or two) of bubbly.

If you want to say howdy to 2015 in cowboy boots and jeans, head over to Poodies Roadhouse for their annual NYE concert with blues artist WC Clark. Or if you feel like getting cozy with that special someone, check out the New Year’s Eve Package at Lakeway Resort.

Lake Travis Area Weekend Events: December 26 – 28

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! What a beautiful crisp day we had in Austin and the Hill Country. It was perfect for testing out new bikes, scooters and skateboards!

There’s still time to enjoy twinkling lights under the Texas sky right here in Lake Travis at Lakeway’s Trail of Lights. If you’re headed out to do some shopping this weekend, take a look at the extended shopping hours at Hill Country Galleria, where you can also catch some of the biggest box office hits if your feet need a rest.

Looking for something fun to do in the city? Check out “Holidaze Are Here Again” at Austin’s historic Esther’s Follies and laugh off a few holiday calories!
