The Daily Show Arrives in Austin for South by South Mess

Written by Cathy Hale | October 28, 2014

Daily Show Austin

Funnyman Jon Stewart of The Daily Show is in Austin this week where he is filming his show live at ZACH Theatre. Stewart, who jokingly refers to Texas as “indicted Gov. Rick Perry’s home state,” will broadcast a week of shows here covering the midterm elections he calls “Democalypse 2014: South by South Mess.” On Saturday, Stewart’s team tweeted, “Monday! TDS in Texas! The best thing to happen to Austin since … whatever great thing they hosted last weekend.”  And so it begins …

His guests for the week include Texas State Senator and Gubernatorial Candidate Wendy Davis, Representative Joaquin Castro and musical guest Austin-based Spoon. They haven’t announced the guest for Wednesday yet, so we’re assuming it will be a Republican or Willie Nelson … ha-ha!

LTL Weekend Oct17

Fall is the month for festivals and there’ll be no shortage of festivities for you to choose from this weekend. And with just two weeks remaining until Halloween, you might expect to start seeing some ghosts and ghouls, corn mazes and pumpkin patches popping up around town. If you happen to be one of those folks who loves the autumn and all it brings, you won’t be disappointed with this weekend’s lineup.

One of the most popular Halloween events in Austin is happening right here in Lake Travis at Lakeway City Park, the Great Goblin Glow. Head downtown for the largest gathering of Celts in Central Texas for the 18th Annual Celtic Fest at Fiesta Gardens on Saturday and Sunday. The weekend weather forecast looks amazing for a day out at Sweet Berry Farm or the FiestaJAM on Lake Marble Falls.

With all the cool music, warm fun and lively fall festivities, it’s going to be another hip and happening weekend in and around the Lake Travis area!
