People often ask me, since I shop for a living, where do you find good deals in the Lake Travis area?
The short answer is everywhere. You never know what treasure is waiting to be found and what you may save.
Depending on what it is that you are looking for, here are some of my regular Lake Travis stops. Many of these you have probably shopped already, but what you may not know is some of the secrets each hold.
Homegoods is always a favorite for quality rugs, pillows and fun decor. They have three shipments a week and usually two clearance isles toward the middle of the store. It’s always fun to see what odd and unusual items they will feature in the front of the store. More recently I have seen a 10′ Eiffel Tower and 8′ hot pink crystal studded velvet chair!
Homegoods is owned by the same company as TJMaxx and Marshalls. So if you can’t find the matching lamp, head across the Shops at the Galleria parking lot and take a look at Marshall’s. Which brings me to our next stop.
Marshall’s is an amazing store for department store finds at discount prices. All of their clearance is along the back isle end caps. And if you find something not marked down but with a defect, they with give 10% or more off if you bring it to managements attention.
Marshall’s has the same great pillows, lamps and decor that Homegood’s has but with the added bonus of fashion! You can also find wonderful candles at both locations, including soy and battery operated. I recently purchased a set of led candles with a remote!
If more local yocal is your style, you might stop in at Point of Origin. They have unique gifts, apparel and jewelry. It’s a great place to pick up a birthday gift or something special just for you. And while we are on the subject of gifts, an absolute favorite flower shop is Magpie Blossom Boutique. This is no ordinary flower shop! They have gifts, jewelry, decor, oh yes, and amazing flowers! Be sure and ask to see the bird.
Let us not leave out the true treasure hunters. For those of you that like to dig a little and save a lot, Ladies of Charity Thrift Shop is the place to start. This wonderful organization is volunteer run and 100% of the profit goes to help those in our community. They have a “high end” boutique section, along with a variety of housewares, toys, jewelry and other thrifty finds.
And of course there is Goodwill in Lakeway. They have a specialties auction every Saturday at 1pm. You just never know what you may find! Recently they had a pair of vintage Bose tulip mid-centruy speakers and a Harry Potter train set!
Just down the road a spell is the Lohman’s Crossing shopping center. A couple of hidden gems include Tuesday Morning, a favorite for linens and towels. Also home of Furniture Brokers (their sister stores are located in Westlake and Marble Falls) offering upscale consignment furniture.
And if you haven’t checked out Sweet Pea’s Consignment, it is an absolute must. They are an upscale consignment store that is not only clean, but cute! You won’t find any Target brand here. The quality and brand of clothes is above average and the selection is not bad either. They are constantly adding more inventory so every day there is something new to find!
So whether you are a shop-o-holic like me, or just love to find a great deal, there are so many choices in the Lake Travis area. Get on out there and shop or save … or both!
