You’ve been waiting since you heard the news last summer and it’s finally here.
Yes, LT-ers, The Ginger Man is officially open for business at the Hill Country Galleria. The inviting open-air space will make you feel like you’ve stepped out of the hustle and bustle of Lakeway and into your favorite European pub.
The Ginger Man is an Austin original with a well-earned spot in the chronicles of beer history.
The Ginger Man first opened in Houston in 1985, and unlike every other American bar, they offered more than 70 beers on tap. Most places just served domestic brew with a few imports. In contrast, The Ginger Man served beer from around the world. And lots of it.
Yeah, that craft beer concept kinda exploded, huh? Call them the pioneers.
Today, The Ginger Man’s dedication to serving up specialty and craft beer from around the world hasn’t wavered.
The Ginger Man at Hill Country Galleria has its famous wall of taps with a selection of more than 60 beers. Plus, The Ginger Man in Lake Travis is driving home the motto “everything’s bigger in Texas,” by expanding their traditional offering in a variety of ways, making it a standout in The Ginger Man family. The owners jokingly call it “The Ginger Man 2.0.”
The Lake Travis location has a full kitchen, so they offer a variety of delicious menu items like salads, wings, sandwiches, and flat-breads. On Saturday and Sunday, The Ginger Man is serving up brunch with a plethora of waffle options.
In addition to a vast selection of beer, this location also has a high-end liquor selection and an impressive selection of wine, because, well … it’s Lakeway, and we like to get our drank on.
What you won’t find at The Ginger Man is a lot of loud TVs with a lot of distractions. That’s because The Ginger Man is about hanging out with friends and neighbors. The vibe is community cohesion with plenty of seating to make each experience at The Ginger Man unique. You can sit inside at the beautiful bar, grab a booth or a table, or enjoy the patio with communal tables and benches overlooking the plush Hill Country Galleria lawn.
If you’re a night owl, this is gonna make you giddy: The Ginger Man hours are 2pm-2am Monday-Wednesday; 11:30am-2am Thursday-Sunday.
Insider Tip: Make sure you check out the cool chalkings (signage) by The Ginger Man’s Trenton Gillen. His chalk interpretation of a cover from The Ginger Man novel by J. P. Donleavy’s is quite amazing!
We’ve got pizza, gelato, burgers, sushi, steaks, and now a brewpub. What kind of restaurant would you like to see open at Hill Country Galleria? (In other words, who should snag the old Iron Cactus space?) Let us know in the comment section on our Facebook page.
