Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Lakeway is getting acquainted with the Lake Travis community and proving they’re worthy neighbors.
We broke the news that Baylor Scott & White Health acquired Lakeway Regional Medical Center this summer. And Lake Travis residents were thrilled.
Fast forward to six months later and we’re seeing the BSW logo on a variety of flyers around town. We think it’s refreshing because health and wellness starts with education.
Last week, BSW hosted a Teddy Bear Clinic for LT youngsters at the Lake Travis Community Library where they talked about health in an interactive setting with a craft session. According to BSW, this is the first of many events. And you can look forward to more educational seminars in 2017.
Two big events are on the horizon for next week …
Ribbon-Cutting
While the Baylor Scott & White signage has been proudly displayed at the hospital since December, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held next week on January 31 from noon – 1pm.
Coordinated by the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce, the celebration will include comments from Jay Fox, president, Baylor Medical Center, and Philippe Bochaton, president of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Lakeway. Community dignitaries will also be on-hand.
Hospital Open House
On February 4 from 10am to 1pm, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center invites Lakeway, Bee Cave, and all of Lake Travis to explore the hospital.
The afternoon will give you a close-up view of the future of healthcare.
One activity will showcase the da Vinci® Surgical System — cutting-edge robotic technology that enables surgeons to perform operations through a few small incisions.
The hospital will be offering free interactive health screenings (blood pressure, glucose, cardiovascular risk assessments, stroke risk assessments, and BMI screenings).
You can tour the facilities and meet doctors, nurses, and staff. Plus, the event will include kid-friendly activities and features Lake Travis EMS and the Travis County STAR Flight helicopter.
If you haven’t seen STAR Flight in person, it’s awe-inspiring. STAR Flight provides 24/7 aerial emergency medical service with medical transport, swift-water rescue, search and rescue, high-angle rescue, fire suppression/aerial reconnaissance, and law safety assistance. (Thank you for your service, STAR Flight team!)
The Future of Medical Services in Lake Travis
One of the things Lake Travis residents were excited about when LRMC changed to BSW is the wonderful reputation Baylor Scott & White is known for. Their hospitals consistently attract top specialists and surgeons from around the world, which means better medical care and services for patients young and old.
Things you can look forward to at the hospital include a strong primary care base, a new obstetrics/gynecology clinic as well as expanded oncology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and cardiology. Plus, as the hospital grows, they hope to hold monthly events on-site.
From our sweet babies to our aging parents, Lake Travis families have loved ones in every generation. What are the health topics you’d like to hear about from BSW Lakeway’s medical experts?
