Back to School Weekend Events

Written by Todd Hower | August 22, 2013

Lake Travis Area Back to School

If you’ve spent the last couple weeks preparing for the start of the Lake Travis area school year, you and your children might be ready to take it easy and sit around the house this weekend. If you still have some energy left and you’re looking for things to do, we got you covered! Here is a list of a few things that are going on in the Lake Travis area this weekend.

Friday

The Nowhere Men: If you like classic rock from the 60’s and 70’s, especially the Beatles, then head on over to the Lake Travis Community Library this Friday, August 23rd and check out this two-man acoustic Beatles cover band. The Nowhere Men will kick your weekend off with some rock and pop classics starting at 4p.

Saturday

Back to School Bash: Start your Saturday by grabbing the kids and heading over to the Back to School Bash starting at 10a. This event is a school supply and backpack drive for low income Lake Travis ISD students. You’ll be able to help out the local Lake Travis School District community and have fun enjoying free food, live music, games and more!

This event is located at the intersection of RR 620 and Bee Cave Parkway (map).

Time: 10a – 1p

Whole Foods Bee Cave Kid’s Club: Grab some lunch and bring your little creative ones to paint planters which will be used as decor in the store and auctioned off in a silent auction benefiting Whole Kids Foundation. Whole Kids Foundation serves more than 2 million kids by providing schools with salad bars, garden grants, and healthy eating education.

Time: 12p – 1p

Location: Kid’s tables in the cafe dining area (Whole Foods Bee Cave)

Cost: Free

The Backyard: If you got anything left for a Saturday night out, then check out Bamako Airlines. Best described as music from the Afropop genre, Bamako Airlines will be performing this Saturday at the Glenn Theatre located in The Backyard. Tickets are $10 at the door and parking is free. Showtime is 8p.
