There have been a lot of changes at the Lakeway Regional Medical Center in 2015. And 2016 looks to hold a lot more great things to come.

Lakeway Regional Medical Center is primed to become the premier hospital in Central Texas for complex brain, spine, and joint procedures. In addition, the hospital recently has been designated the Emergency Preparedness Command Center for Western Travis County.

So how did LRMC, known for being a beautiful — but a bit of an empty hospital — become one of the centers of medical innovation in the Lake Travis area?

Most days in your week are filled with places to go and people to see. And those places to go and people to see usually involve the use of an automobile.

It would be nice to have a vehicle that never breaks down, it’s just not realistic. Your vehicle has a lot of moving parts and things that simply wear out and break. So having a mechanic you can trust is invaluable.

ThunderCloud Subs: The Journey to Sandwich Fame

We are lucky to live in a place that has so many sandwich options, because sandwiches are pretty great.

However, not many places can claim to have served multiple generations a tuna salad on white.

ThunderCloud Subs is an iconic sandwich shop with three locations in the Lake Travis area at Four Points, Lakeway, and Bee Cave. They are celebrating two big milestones this year — 40 years of making sandwiches and 25 years of Turkey Trot’s. The Turkey Trot is an Austin Thanksgiving Day tradition that has raised over $2.5 million to help support Caritas of Austin.

We caught up with Mike Haggerty, co-owner of ThunderCloud Subs and run director of the ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, and asked him a few questions about the journey to sandwich fame.

Leaving Lake Travis for Fall Camping in the Hill Country

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But we are not talking about mall Santa and fruitcake … at least not yet.

We are talking about camping season.

The weather is dropping from scorching to “ahhhhh” temperatures and it’s time to stock the cooler, pack up that tent, grab your sleeping bag and get out for a weekend of fall camping in the Hill Country.

We put together some of the best Hill Country campsites that are within a couple of hours drive time from the Lake Travis area. You’ll be far enough away from home to wind down and experience a sky filled with Hill Country stars … but you won’t have to spend half of your day on the road trying to get there.
