Foodie News: Carve at Lantana, New Steak Houses in Lake Travis, Bahama Buck’s & More

Written by Cathy Hale | December 12, 2018

New dining options are now open in the Lake Travis area with more on the way, way out west.

When you leave “the bubble” and travel on Southwest Parkway, you’ll notice all of the new commercial construction near William Cannon. Well, it’s about to get even better, because a new concept from the owner of Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille will be opening in summer 2019, Carve American Grille.

Remember when that stretch of Southwest Parkway was just a parkway?

Those days are over. Now Lantana Place will be adding Carve to the mix of tenants like Moviehouse & Eatery along with – according to Stratus Properties, Inc. – Westlake Dermatology, Realty Austin, Bella Spa, Cobalt Blue Salon, men’s grooming studio Scissors & Scotch, Enamel Dental and Lone Star Eye.

And don’t forget the new hotel expected to open in summer 2021, a Marriott AC. The “AC” family of Marriott hotels are “European inspired, which translates to small, but modern and functional. This hotel will be five floors high with 134 rooms and an impressive rooftop bar with sweeping views. Think Sonesta Bee Cave.

It’s Legit Christmas-y at Hill Country Galleria

Written by Cathy Hale | November 28, 2018

‘Tis the season to grab your smartphone and start adding events to your calendar, because you don’t want to miss what’s buzzing at Hill Country Galleria.

Christmas is bigger and more Christmas-y than ever at Hill Country Galleria with a new and spectacular Santa’s Wonderland like you’ve never seen before. Santa is so smitten that he wants to stay way out west with us because he doesn’t want to leave his cool new digs. We think he’s going to list his North Pole workshop on Airbnb. Any takers?

If you want to get in the Christmas spirit, head over to Hill Country Galleria for photo ops galore, extended shopping hours, a family fun run, a nightly tree show and more.

In addition to the traditional events, HCG is hosting an exclusive photo shoot with Autism Speaks for children with sensory issues.

It’s time to open your calendar app!

By Way of LA: Lake Travis Resident Alison Watters Gives Back with Gratitude

Written by Cathy Hale | November 14, 2018

When it comes to giving back to the Lake Travis community, Alison Watters proves you don’t have to be from Texas to live local and give locally. This Los Angeles transplant hit the ground running when she and her family moved to Lakeway in 2014, and she hasn’t slowed down for a minute. She might sit down for an early-morning cup of coffee, but maybe not …

If Ali looks familiar, that’s because you’ve seen her smiling face at CC4C (Cheyanna’s Champions 4 Children) fun runs at Hill Country Galleria or perhaps at Lakeway Elementary fundraisers a few years ago. Whether she’s running a registration table in tennis shoes or an evening gown, Ali’s mantra is gratitude makes us joyful.

In the spirit of the holiday season, we’d like to share Ali’s story of philanthropy, because it serves as a reminder that charity starts in the heart. We all have life experiences that shape who we are today. For Ali, she knew a long time ago that helping people was just part of her DNA.
