With the weather warming up and spring finally arriving in Lake Travis, the pace of construction in the area has quickened, so we decided to take a visual stroll to see what’s buzzing. From the Sonesta Hotel in the Hill Country Galleria to the first phase of framing at the Oaks at Lakeway, the new businesses headed our way will be open before we know it.
Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave Austin
Overlooking the Hill Country Galleria is the beautiful new Sonesta Hotel. Construction is moving along quickly in anticipation of the grand opening in mid-summer. As we previously reported, the nearly 200-room Sonesta Bee Cave Austin will feature amenities like a central courtyard with an outdoor swimming pool, sun deck and glass enclosed lounge and rooftop bar. The color palette for the hotel is inspired by Lake Travis with local influences like natural rough woods, stone and richly colored textural materials.
The Goddard School of Lakeway
Based on all of the residential growth in Lake Travis, we’ve been seeing an increased demand for preschool and day care in the area, which is why two of the new facilities in this construction update are schools — The Goddard School and Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool.
The Goddard School will be located at 301 Medical Parkway in the lot in front of the hospital in the Lakeway Medical Village. This facility accepts infants through school age children and offers a School Age Program after school as well as summer camps.
Little Sunshine’s Playhouse and Preschool
This new day care facility is located next to Lakeway Elementary on the corner of Lohmans Crossing and Rolling Green, across from Emmaus Catholic Church. It was unanimously approved by Lakeway City Council last year to operate as a day care. The facility will be open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm during the week and will accept infants through pre-K. Little Sunshine’s offers an innovative curriculum with cutting-edge technology like KiddiesCams ™ and LuvNotes ™, so parents can communicate throughout the day.
Oaks at Lakeway
Dirt has been moving for quite a while at the 90-acre Oaks at Lakeway and now buildings are taking shape as you can see frames being erected as part of Phase 1 development located directly behind the existing office building at 1700 RR 620.
This massive project, which is also planned according to U.S. Green Building Council LEED guidelines, is focused on opening its biggest retailer first in October 2015, H-E-B. Additional tenants include Torchy’s Tacos, Twin Liquors, Orange Leaf Yogurt, High 5 Entertainment, Pro Nails and Factory Mattress.
Share the project you’re most excited about over in the comments on the Lake Travis Lifestyle Facebook Page.

Thanks for the information. What is going up at Clara Van and 620? I thought that was the new HEB, but learned that the HEB is going up in Lakeway.

Never mind. Just Googled it and learned it is a car dealership! How sad. I just read some posts about the shenanigans in getting that dealership approved. A sad day for Lakeway.
