The new 195-room hotel in the Lake Travis area, the Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave, officially opened its doors last week. In fact, the City of Bee Cave proclaimed July 5 Sonesta Day!
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening party, the hotel’s first-ever guests settled in for their stay at this chic Hill Country destination.
We first wrote about the Sonesta Hotel in early January when construction was well underway. News of the hotel spread quickly as well as questions about what it would bring to the Lake Travis community.
Sure, people who are traveling to the Lake Travis area will like a shiny new hotel, but what about residents and professionals who work here?
Well, I think that’s where the rooftop space, ballroom and meeting rooms come into play. They. Are. Awesome.
The decor throughout the hotel is warm, rich and inviting. The array of dark natural woods are beautiful and the modern shapes and fixtures give it all a touch of elegance. It feels like Texas … but perhaps a refined version of rustic.
The rooftop space and restaurant, Meridian 98, really steals the show. It features a huge bar, lots of cozy indoor lounge seating with over-sized leather club chairs and sofas. The terrace wraps around the property and boasts great views of Bee Cave. It also has plenty of outdoor seating, making it ideal for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings.
Let’s not forget that the Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave has 10,000-square feet of function space including a ballroom, meeting rooms and an executive boardroom. From meetings to wedding receptions, it can all be done right here in your backyard. Plus, all of the function space is equipped with everything you need to run events seamlessly.
If you look closely at the details, you can see the Hill Country inspiration the Sonesta Hotel was excited about. The art on the walls in the lobby and at the front desk resembles the shape of honeycombs in honor of local apiaries. The fitness room boasts a huge mural of UT stadium. The signature cocktails in Meridian 98 like the Pollinator, Rolling Meadows and Beekeeper also celebrate local ingredients.
The final touches on the sundeck and pool are still being completed thanks to all of the rain. Hey, nobody is complaining! đ
If you’d like to see the Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave for yourself, stop by for a drink or you can book a room and enjoy a staycation.

Awesome!, just awesome! Having lived in the lakeway area for over 17 years and experience the commercial boom here makes it easy not to have to commute into town for entertainment. It’s finally all here. We need something similar to this in Concan.
