If you spend any time in the Lake Travis area, it’s highly likely that you spend some time driving up and down Ranch Road 620.
And for anyone that has been here for a while, you’ve probably seen some major changes along the only road that gets you from Bee Cave to the Four Points area and beyond.
The next major change will be in Lakeway on a piece of land just north of the Lakeway post office (map).
You should see work begin on a new shopping area (among various other coming attractions) in late 2014. City leaders in Lakeway have been in the news lately sharing their vision and plans for the Lakeway Town Center, a project that would amount to a new downtown area for the City of Lakeway.
Included in the plans are a custom-designed H-E-B store, various retail shops, a movie theater and new restaurants. Also in the works are various new civic buildings like an animal shelter, parks and recreation department, and convention center.
H-E-B’s new store would anchor much of the upcoming construction on the 75-acre site. The Lakeway H-E-B store would be approximately 90,000 square feet in size and would provide, in addition to standard fare, to-go options and healthy living choices.
Developers also have stated plans to bring in various eating establishments as well as a dining-oriented movie theater (think Alamo Drafthouse). In keeping with Austin’s environmentally friendly way of life, the City of Lakeway plans on obtaining a green building designation for The Oaks at Lakeway.
