Bee Creek Sports Complex: Are More Playing Fields On The Way?

Written by Cathy Hale | October 31, 2018

Do you remember when people talked about Bee Creek, and nobody knew where that was?

“You mean, Bee Cave?”

“Nope, Bee Creek. It’s near The Reserve. You know, past Serene Hills.”

“What’s Serene Hills?”

Well, that booming sliver of Lake Travis could get even crazier, because the new — and rather enormous — Bee Creek Sports Complex at 4440 Bee Creek Road is up for approval to proceed. It’s about .7 miles away from Lake Travis Middle School as the crow flies.

A lot is happening in Lakeway, and we know you want to get involved, so put your glossophobia aside and speak up.

Do you remember that good ole TxDOT FM620 Feasibility Study we chatted about back in 2016?

Come on. It was beyond exciting. I should know because I wrote it. Seriously, a gripping read.

What about buildings?

Yes, we mean real structures — either commercial or residential — in Lakeway.

What about wildlife?

Remember the suspension of the Trap, Transport and Process program in Lakeway?

Uh-huh.

Life Ki-do Martial Arts in Lake Travis

Written by Cathy Hale | October 3, 2018

If you think “martial arts” and picture slinging nunchucks as a lean, mean, ninja-like warrior, that’s true — and awesome! — but slightly misleading.

Martial arts is about more than strengthening the body; it’s about training the mind and building emotional well-being that will last a lifetime. That’s precisely what Life Ki-do Martial Arts has been offering families in the Lake Travis area since 2015.

Speaking from personal experience, giving your child the opportunity to learn martial arts can be a life-changing gift. My autistic son began studying martial arts in 2012, and the benefits he experienced were remarkable. Not only did he drastically improve his core strength, flexibility, balance and mind/body connection, but he developed inner strength and confidence that was amazing. Plus, he learned how to fight with swords and wooden staffs, which was incredible to watch.

Simply put, you could say martial arts was the “missing link” that brought everything together for my son. I had never done martial arts myself, so I didn’t know what was missing until I found it. If you’re on a similar quest for your child, Life Ki-do Martial Arts could be the key.
