Thanks to everyone who joined us last night at Oasis Texas Brewing Company for our first-ever LTL Happy Hour!

The views from the brewery were breathtaking to say the least. Everyone in attendance took a few extra minutes during the evening to soak up the beauty of Lake Travis. It. is. Back.

If you haven’t been to Oasis Texas Brewing Company yet, it’s an amazing spot that shares the space with The Mansfield (event venue) on the 3rd floor above The Oasis.

Schmidt Family Barbecue is Opening in Lakeway

Written by Cathy Hale | June 25, 2015

It’s always good news when a delicious barbecue joint moves into the Lake Travis area. This time, it’s a name we all know and it’s not their first rodeo. Schmidt Family Barbecue will be opening a second location in Lakeway on July 13!

Known for its 75-year love affair with barbecue and family roots based in Lockhart, The Barbecue Capital of Texas, Schmidt Family Barbecue has been giving Texans the #meatsweats since 1948.

In 2013, they opened a location in Bee Cave near the Hill Country Galleria and now we’ll have location numero dos with plenty of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage links, and turkey for every barbecue connoisseur.

Lake Travis Day Trip of the Month: Johnson City

Written by Mandy Spivey | June 24, 2015

Blanco County Courthouse in the Square

There are times when getting out of the house is more than what some may call simple “weekend plans” — sometimes you need a change of scenery and just a touch of nostalgia to get your mind back on track.

That’s one of the reasons you might adore living in the Lake Travis area. The close proximity to the Texas Hill Country gives you easy access to quaint and historical Texas towns like Fredericksburg, Dripping Springs and Blanco — which are fun to tour for a weekend or even a day.

Not too far up the road from us is Johnson City, one of the more famous small Texas towns because of its hometown ties to President Lyndon B. Johnson. But that’s not all the town has going for it these days, in fact you can find natural state parks, fun shopping and even a brewery on the square.

Lake Travis Area Weekend Roundup: June 19th – June 21st

LTL Weekend 06192015

We’ve had another week of soakers! And with the moisture that has been coming out of the Gulf, it’s feeling as humid as Houston around here!

Somehow, Tropical Storm Bill skirted around us and drenched everything just east of the Lake Travis area before it headed up to Dallas.

With some torrential downpours over the lake on Thursday afternoon, water is still flowing in and as of this Friday morning, Lake Travis is just shy of 670′ — 11 feet to full.

12 out of 13 public boat ramps on Lake Travis are open and most of Sometimes Island is underwater … but just under — so be careful if you’re taking dad out on the boat this weekend and navigating around the main basin. Word on the lake is that there’s still some debris floating around too.
