Two Saints Baking Co. & Cafe: Homey Goodness in Bee Cave

Written by Mandy Spivey | January 19, 2015

Two Saints

Some days are perfect for warming up with a hot cup of soup or a fresh cup of coffee. These days I have been in the mood more and more for these simple cold weather foods, like tomato basil soup, a nice chai latte or a straight-from-the-oven cookie, so I head over to Two Saints Baking Co. & Cafe in Bee Cave to quell the cravings.

If you’re ever in the area by Highway 71 and 620, take a turn into the Shops at the Galleria, where you can find Two Saints nestled at the west edge of the shopping center. The fresh food offerings, including breakfast, lunch, coffee drinks and treats, are all made in-house and from scratch.

Rock Climbing at Main Event

Whether you’re a beginner or expert level climber looking for a challenging workout, or just a place to wear the kids out, Main Event has a 9000 square foot rock gym where you can do both. With one of the best setups for an introduction to rock climbing and fairly affordable, it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for a fun indoor activity.

You can start out with all the equipment you need for climbing including shoes and a harness at $8 for a 30 minute session. Or step it up to an hour session for only $2 more. Every Monday, from 4:00pm to close, is the Monday Night Madness special with unlimited climbing for only $9.95.

Lake Travis Local: Meet Interior Designer Jenny Cokins

Written by Cathy Hale | January 14, 2015

Jenny Cokins Interior Design

We all know interior design is big business, but it’s also an art that requires planning, creativity, an appreciation and understanding for function and space — not to mention lots of fine-tuning.

My first real brush with the world of interior design occurred when our home was featured on an HGTV show in 2011 and our celebrity designer was Tom Filicia. Per usual for a reality show, we weren’t allowed to give our input or see what was actually happening in our house. When the final reveal took place, I could not contain my emotions. The transformation was unbelievable!

If you’re seeking a transformation of your own this year, you’ll be happy to meet a Lake Travis resident who makes that kind of “magic” happen, Jenny Cokins.

Hotels are Hatching in Lake Travis: Sonesta Opening Summer 2015

Written by Cathy Hale | January 13, 2015

Sonesta Hotel

In about five months the new Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave will open for business. Located at the Hill Country Galleria property, this modern hotel will feature 195 rooms (including 12 suites), a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool and sun deck as well as a glass-enclosed lounge and rooftop bar. Wait, we’ll have a sleek new place to gather with our friends? Okay, you’ve got my attention.

What’s even more important for Lake Travis residents and businesses is this hotel has a vast amount of function space for meetings and social events. The 10,000 square-foot space can be divided into smaller rooms or larger rooms as needed. As a former party planner myself, I think having a contemporary ballroom event space in the Lake Travis area is something the community definitely needs. The Sonesta also provide on-staff event planners, wedding specialists and catering options.
