The Glass Isle at The Mansfield

SXSW. Austin City Limits. Formula 1. When it comes to throwing parties, Austin does it right.

Our events garner press world-wide, so it should come as no surprise that Austin is also home to some of the most spacious, beautiful and coolest venues around. And Lake Travis is thrilled to be the home of one of these gems — The Mansfield.

The Mansfield, a premium Lake Travis event venue that shares space with Oasis Texas Brewing Company, opened in February 2014 and offers the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor space with a uniquely beautiful vibe and amazing views of Lake Travis.

Lake Travis Neighborhood Guide: Apache Shores

Written by Todd Hower | June 26, 2014

Apache Shores is one of the earlier neighborhoods to be developed in the Lake Travis area. The narrow and steep roads that wind through the subdivision and take you past the mix of residential styles can make you feel like you’re driving through a Colorado mountain town — but without the snow and ice.

Lake Travis locals have been calling this place home since the late 60’s along with second-home owners that visit throughout the year to escape the big city. And even though the big city is slowing closing in on the Lake Travis area, as you get off Ranch Road 620 and make your way back to Apache Shores, you can truly feel like you’re a world away.

How Lake Travis is Keeping Austin Weird

Written by Cathy Hale | June 24, 2014

Banana Car

Yes, Austin loves its weirdos. And you don’t have to live in downtown Austin to embrace your inner weird. From Westlake to Lakeway to Steiner Ranch, we’re doing our part to keep our favorite tagline alive and well in the burbs too.

First of all, we should give credit where credit is due. In 2000, the Austin Independent Business Alliance adopted the “Keep Austin Weird” slogan in an effort to promote small businesses. Those three little words stuck like glue and we started seeing the famous bumper stickers. In fact, the slogan was so widely admired, many other cities started adopting it as their slogan too — like Portland. (Of course they did.)

So why are we happy about being weird? Well, the message is a positive one celebrating Austin for having an accepting culture where artistic expression thrives and we embrace progressive growth politically, socially and in culture — especially music. And we love and support our local businesses. This spirit is what keeps our city (and our suburbs) vibrant and eclectic.
