Peter Pan Mini Golf is an Austin institution. Family owned and operated since 1946, it’s one-of-a-kind and uniquely Austin.

It’s hard to miss the giant, iconic statue on Barton Springs and South Lamar. The place is fun and memorable for people of all ages. On any given day you’ll see kids, adults, coworkers on “team building” excursions, locals and tourists alike all putting colored golf balls through strange things.

The story of Steiner Ranch is as big and as colorful as its founder, the late Thomas Casper “Buck” Steiner.

From a dusty and desolate upbringing to rubbing elbows with some of the country’s highest entertainers and politicians, the rodeo showman turned leather businessman from Cedar Creek was one character, to say the least.

Born and raised in Bastrop County in 1899, Buck was a farm boy who was brought up to endure the hardships of country life, already picking cotton by the age of 6. By the ripe age of 12 he had run away and found work at nearby Wild West shows, lying about his age to book the gigs.

Done Is Better Than Perfect*

As the popular saying goes, “done is better than perfect.”

I suppose we could debate this statement over and over, but I tend to agree. There are times when we just need to get it done, knock it out and move on down the list.

Granted, this concept doesn’t apply to all situations.

Doctors, firefighters, figure skaters, pilots and wedding photographers come to mind as permanently exempt. Nobody wants a surgeon to hold up his hands and say, “good enough, we’re done!” when the procedure wasn’t performed with 100% accuracy and precision.
